We recently returned from a trip to preview the 2017 Coastal Living Idea House, which is located in the beautiful, historic New England town of Newport, Rhode Island. This year’s idea house is a bay-front home packed with classic style, smart decorating ideas, and a trove of seaside inspiration.

We can assure you if you’ve been leaning towards a coastal look for designing your own home, you’ll be truly inspired by this year’s Coastal Living Idea House. The home offers so many stunning ideas you’re bound to fall in love with.

On a personal note, we were absolutely thrilled and honored to have had the opportunity to once again collaborate with nationally renowned interior designer, Mark Sikes for this project. We also worked with him last year on the 50th anniversary Southern Living Idea House.

We were pleased to work alongside these and other notable companies as well:

How Carolina Lanterns contributed to the 2017 Coastal Living Idea House

We created a custom lantern specifically for the Coastal Living House. Since the house is located in Newport, we thought naming it The Harbor Lantern would be quite fitting. We produced this lantern in several different sizes and for various applications throughout the property. The Harbor Lantern also has a special finish which is unique to the project.

We’re excited to announce that this lantern will be available for the public to purchase soon after the issue of Coastal Living comes out on August 11th, 2017.

Trend alert!

A series of cutting edge trends caught our eye while touring the Coastal Living Idea House and we look forward to sharing them with you.

Here are some of the design trends we’re really excited about:

  1. Everything in the house was Cobalt Blue and White — even the dishes, plates and other accessories!
  2. There was much mixing of pattern, with wallpaper and fabric used on the ceilings.
  3. All the trim was in a high gloss, which will also be an upcoming trend.

We’re already preparing for the Cobalt Blue and White trend – we’ll soon have items in those colors to match your style and personality in our showroom.
